Tracy Moores: why understanding your figure is so important for effortless style

Tracy is sharing images with us today to discuss her current wardrobe and why these looks work so well for her. As you read on, you will see that this is a lady who knows what works for her figure and colouring. As a professional stylist who has had fluctuations in weight [you may recognise her from season 1 of The Biggest Loser] Tracy has built up a great deal of knowledge about styles, cuts and colours that suit her and honed a workable wardrobe for all aspects of her life. She has also invented some very handy styling tricks that we hadn’t heard of before. Read on to unleash all her secrets!

“My style is very relaxed, I am very a much wash and wear girl. I hate ironing – I buy clothes that specifically don’t need to be ironed!
I keep certain key pieces very classic, lots of blacks and matching slacks and jackets to really make an outfit.
I do like to dress up though. As much as I live in black I always enjoy a splash colour. When I do wear colour, people will come up to me and say I look well! I will often bring the colour with accessories- shoes, earrings, scarves, boots and big statement pieces all paired with a core foundation of solid basics.
I’ve had a bit of weight fluctuation which means I am now a 14. I got to a size 10 while on The Biggest Loser and I hate how I looked. I am 5ft 10 and have high cheekbones so I need some meat as I age. Women need to realise that you need to be the ideal healthy weight that is personal to you- and I like to keep some fullness to my face.”

Black gown- I LOVE this dress, even though I don’t know the brand. It’s the BEST fabric that sucks me in and a v-neck is important with a big bust. My secret styling trick is that I always add a tiny shoulder pad to my dresses. I’ve done it to this dress and not only helps my shoulder shape but it makes my waist appear smaller. It works a treat but the pad has to be small.

Derby Day – This is a Carla Zampatti Cape with Forever New jumpsuit. As the top of my look is large and flowing, I keep the bottom half tight and neat for balance. And I made the fascinator- the flowers are my great grandmother’s silk flowers she had for years and I added them into an old headpiece I already had- I like to tweak things where I can for my own signature look.

Orange necklace- this necklace was $24 from a small boutique in the western suburbs. It has gorgeous feathers and animal prints and it’s the best money I’ve ever spent, I get compliments every time I wear it. I love hunting around Vinnies and finding brooches and unique pieces to add to clothes to make them my own. I’m also wearing this Bardot silk dress backwards! It goes to a low v at the back so I flip it around and wear it as a low neckline sometimes.

Orange earrings – These fun orange pom-pom earrings are from Seed, that’s a Veronika Maine jumpsuit and the cape was $79 from Forever New – I wear it to death! Sometimes I wear it casually with jeans and tee and it can easily be formal too.

Tracey runs her own business Lifestyle Looks and really does know colour and form. She also knows how to wear a statement earring! Steal her style below–
