We were thrilled to get the opportunity to have another styling session with Black Pepper pieces – this time with the new Spring 2019 drops. Our editor, Rebecca’s has made a selection of her favourite styles in stores now. Vivienne and Laurel allowed us to dress them up and show us the fab new styles. As always, it’s worth noting the premium fabrics at Black Pepper. Every time we shoot with them there is always a comment on the quality. Scroll on to see how the ladies look, check out Rebecca’s choices and ready why she chose each of them.
First up is Laurel in some pretty spring tones and eye-catching prints. This jacket is 100% linen and that colour instantly drew me in. The flattering tone is great for giving a lift to a trans-seasonal look. It lightweight fabric won’t make you too sweaty, the collarless style is fabulous for all body shapes, the low profile neckline doesn’t swamp you and allows you to show off some earrings or a necklace. The skirt is a stunning thin pleat (anything too thick will be bulky) so the balance is just right there. And that graphic print! Need I say more?! –

I do love a neutral look. You can easily add a bright scarf or handbag if you’re into your colour however I love the casual feel to this outfit. I’ve done a loose tuck, only at the front, to elongate the legs and give some shape. I’ve let the shirt hang at the back for a casual vibe and a bit of bum coverage if you desire. And well, these pants – it’s love! Cargo pants are very on-trend but they can be unflattering in some styles. These have a very soft, light fall to them, they’re not at all bulky and I love that they’re elasticated at the back. I’ve also folded the hem twice to expose the ankle for a more tailored aesthetic. And the white shirt has a crumbled detail to it which really takes that relaxed feel to the max. Every girl should own a quality white shirt!

Here, Laurel is wearing this pretty ‘Sachi’ top that I think could be dressed up very easily too. There is a double layer to this top and it holds it’s shape beautifully, it’s exceptional quality in my mind. Laurel also noted that she loves a frill sleeve and this is especially good in the 3/4 length so they don’t get in the way during dinner or other activities. I’ve paired this with old faithful white cut-offs. Seriously, I’ve been styling Black Pepper for a while now and every single woman who has worn their pants has remarked on the comfort and quality then subsequently purchased them! Note: I’ve added some brown leather slides because I really love tan tones with navy.

I’ve styled Vivienne is some basics – fresh white tank and the ever-popular ‘Liberty’ pants. I’ve then added a statement scarf worn as a wrap. It’s a simple drape around the shoulders and a soft tie to bring it together. If the scarf is wide enough you can tie the corner lengths together and create armholes for your own little bolero. I love a scarf because it can be so much more than just something that goes around your neck.

Laurel is trying out the fabulous cargo-style pants to further demonstrate how the lightweight fabric softly falls – great for Spring! I’ve accentuated Laurels waist by tying this leopard print scarf through the loopholes of her waistband. I’m also featuring the ‘Kinnersly’ tank here because I want to show off the shape of the neckline and the width of the sleeves. It’s such a neat, classic cut that is actually quite hard to come by! Lucking this style comes in 13 tones so if you like the shape as much as me, they’re likely to have your favourite colour too.

I love art as fashion! This scarf is to die for, I feel you could lay it flat and frame it, it’s such a gorgeous print. I’ve kept everything else quite sedated however the accessories are ultra fashion-forward. Yep, white ankle boots are big! I’ve left Vivienne’s top untucked but if you prefer more waist definition then a simple tuck just at the front will work to elongate the mid-section. I wouldn’t always recommend you fully tuck the top in with this skirt as it’s an elasticated waistband. Fab for comfort but you’d rather be showing off a flat buttoned waistband then elastic. I just love the way the soft pleat sits in this skirt too!
