Brace yourselves, Target has had a shake-up! Yesterday, I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the new Target Spring/Summer range and I’m excited to see the new styles coming to store from September onwards. Target buying manager said they had previously “lost their way” when it came to their fashion offerings. I’m happy to report that they’re back on the path to delivering on-trend, wearable and most importantly affordable fashion. The Target buying team went to great lengths to make their customers excited about the range and here is what you can expect…
NATURES PLAYGROUND
The direction for the Spring/Summer collection is “Inspired by Nature” so what kind of a runway does that call for? The prettiest floral hedged one of course.
FLOWER POWER
Given the theme, there was no shortage of floral prints. The team has worked hard to modernise the prints (the activewear leggings being the case in point!) and there are varying tones from pastels to brights to keep all happy.
SMALL OFFERINGS
Being a vertically-challenged girl (I’m 5’2″) I made a beeline for the petite range. Really happy to see they’re still using all the tricks of the trade like higher necklines to elongate the body, jumpsuits with flattering hem lengths and strategic stripes! I’ve been a fan for a long time and I’m also pleased they’ve included some softer, feminine styles and prints in this range.
WORK IT
Once known as the go-to office wear destination I have to say that Target allowed their workwear to become stagnant, however, what’s to come is a genuine refresh. The key pieces are still available but, recognising that the current idea of workwear has evolved, you can now expect styles with a subtle trend-driven edge. Frills, polka dots, and pastels breathe life back into the range.
EVERYONE IS DOING LINENS
Is this not the fabric of the season? While Linen is always a key player in the warmer months, linen is out with force across so many brands. What you come to Target for is the thoughtful balance of quality and price.
CO-ORDINATED SETS
The easiest way to looking stylish is dressing in the same tone from head to toe. It’s a cinch and always works. Thankfully, the same rule also applies to prints! Dressing tonally is also super slimming… that’s a bonus effect we can get behind.
EDITOR FAVOURITES
No, I couldn’t pick just one. Looking over these choices it made me realise how extreme I am. I either prefer whites, pale tones or the total opposite in bold reds. Also, every piece below looks comfortable and breathable. Come summer, all I want in my wardrobe are those items that I’m going to feel fresh in and I can just throw them on with my favourite tan sandals and walk out the door.
