This week we were a little spoilt and attended one of the most beautiful luncheons we’ve been to, the launch of the Harris Scarfe Spring/Summer 2019 range. Located in the serene venue of The Grounds of Alexandria, it was a star-studded lineup of celebrities who the Harris Scarfe team call family. It’s notable that HS has managed to snag well-known faces from across all three major TV networks but even more of a catch that each of them is as adored by the Australian public as the next.
For an Aussie brand that has been around a whopping 160 years, it’s only appropriate they’re aligned with these big names who clearly have the same staying power as they do. This natural connection also had very natural beginnings when a couple of years ago Kylie Gillies picked up a $25 bargain at her local Harris Scarfe and wore the dress on Mornings. Viewers fell in love and after they discovered the price tag it quickly became a viral sensation. A few meetings later and Kylie became the official face of the brand. We’ve been lucky enough to meet country girl, Kylie a couple of times now and if you’re wondering, yes, she is as lovely as she seems.
Since we met with Harris Scarfe last year there are a few new faces to the crew which we’re really excited about – The Living Room’s, Barry Du Bois and legendary Australian designer, Jane Lamerton. Baz will be the face (and clothes horse) of the menswear division, so if you spy him on the tele and you’re curious about his slick look- it’s likely HS. And it’s fantastic to see an Australian designer like Jane Lamerton come in-house to a brand that will resonate well with her smart and wearable designs. Known for her well-cut frocks Jane will be a chic addition to the Harris Scarfe floors and yes, she will have Harris Scarfe price tags! The first range drops in October so you can find us camping out by our local store in the lead-up for designer therapy.
Harris Scarfe is also home to many beautiful, high-quality homewares and has some stellar celeb names to go with it too.
Masterchef’s, Poh Ling Yeow has had a longtime relationship with the brand via their Cooking Club. Also, interior designer Shannya Blaze not only has her own line of homewares at HS, today she announced the launch of her loungewear range to add fashion designer to her credentials. Shannya says the range is designed for those moments when you might get caught out in your pyjamas and with these, there is no shame. In fact, the tied shirt pictured above is actually from the new loungewear range and we were none the wiser until Shannya shared the news during her speech. Pretty swish!
Now, for the really important stuff! The new Spring Summer fashion ranges. Here is just a taste of what is dropping into store come October. We’ve picked some of our favourites from the women’s runway from the day. If you’re in search of a dress with a sleeve, Harris Scarfe seem to have quite a varied range that would suit many occasions. Pretty prints and vibrant tones are key and it’s great to see many wearable cuts. Even the more formal pieces seem to have an element of comfort which is pleasing to see. In summary, it’s good to see that the mature customer remains well catered for while there is still a nod to the trends we desire.
