One of our first and biggest rules about styling is to never rule out any brand or store because of other people’s ideas. Don’t tell yourself you can’t shop at a particular store because it’s too young, too old or if you think they just don’t have anything fo you. 20 years of styling has proven that preconceived ideas about a particular clothing line can and will be shattered time and time again. The same goes for budget retailers – just because they’re known for low prices doesn’t mean you can’t shop there looking for classic pieces that fit into your style.
Tonight’s shoot is proof in pictures that you can achieve a chic, casual style on a budget as we have styled everything here from Rivers. All pieces right down to the accessories are from the Aussie chain store that provides for its mature customers, both men and women, like none other. We’ve leaned towards the simpler styles from Rivers to show that you can shop for a fresh, wearable style there. Their printed dresses and tops are lovely too however we’re demonstrating versatility in the ranges tonight. We hope you love it! xx

- Nautical is always nice! It doesn’t matter when you’re buying it from you can always land a stylish and fresh look when you stick to this preppy inspiration.
- Do yourself a favour and find a blouse/casual shirt in a fun print of your choice. Wear it instead of tees or basics to elevate a day look that will walk you from an afternoon at the shops to an early dinner in style.
- Be confident with colour blocking. A fresh blue always looks great against a punchy red – add in fresh whites for a super Summer-to-Autumn trans-seasonal look.
- Wearing tonal colours is a sure-fire way to look more put together. Add in some Birkenstock-inspired slides that are equally comfortable and you have a fab look on a dime.
