Buying outerwear is a big purchase and one that most of us don’t get to do every year. So it’s worth ensuring you get as much mileage out of your new coat as possible. If you’ve got your eye on a jacket or coat and look for the value in it, think of all the ways you could style it for different occassions- envision it with bling, sneakers or denim and the events you will be attending.
The jacket we’ve chosen to style on Vivienne is the ‘Martha’ jacket from Black Pepper. The aspects that made this particular jacket so versatile were:
- The collar. A mandarin collar like this can make your coat instantly dressier. Picture it with a traditional full-size folded collar, it wouldn’t be as chic or appropriate for a special night out.
- The fabric. 25% wool not only makes it cosy it makes it suitable for casual days or dressy nights. A fur would be too fancy and if it were a fleece it would rarely suit an evening event.
- The pattern. The tartan is a nice point of difference but the wash or finish is a little distressed, resulting in a more subdued and wearable coat that isn’t too “look at me” that you will quickly tire of.
